Beautiful location & plenty of nice, shady sites. The only negative, and this is a big negative, is that the bath houses do not have any A/C or fans. In the summer, they are unbearably hot. It's surprising that the Corps of Engineers designed them this way. Since the campground is used year-round, this is something that needs to be changed.

This is a newly renovated State park campground. The bath houses are new & very nicely done. The roads are paved & sites are gravel. Sites are roomy but most are not as shady as we like. There are rock fire rings, sewer & cable at each site. Staff at the campground store are very friendly & helpful. There are attractions a few minutes' drive away (Little River Canyon, DeSoto Falls, the town of Mentone & skiing on man-made snow in winter). Attractive, quiet campground.

Joe Wheeler has many sites along the lake but the woods obstruct the view of the water in most areas. Most sites are very shady & pads are level and roomy. We were visited by a raccoon each night as we sat around the campfire. The campground is very attractive and well-kept. Park rangers make frequent rounds. On the minus side, the rest rooms need some repairs. Most of the latches were broken on the stalls and there was water on the floor in the toilet areas.

My rating would have been higher except for one problem. The campground has a new bath house that is very well-equipped and modern. However, there was deep standing water on the floor of the women's restroom & shower area that was not cleaned from Friday until Monday. The floor was muddy in places from people walking through the water. Also, the toilet tissue ran out Saturday morning & was not replenished until after I located a park employee Sunday morning & reported the problem. Oddly enough, an older bath house in the campground was restocked the entire weekend. One other note: I would recommend checking out the campsites in person before reserving, since some are on a very steep side of the road with limited parking. Other than those things,it is a nice campground overall and we will return sometime.

This campground is under new ownership. We had a beautiful view of Little River from the covered wood deck on our site. The bath house was clean & well-maintained. The staff were friendly & helpful. The only negative was that the sites are pretty small. The campground is very close to Great Smoky Mountains National Park & Cades Cove. We plan to stay at Lazy Daze again next spring.

Beautiful view of the lake, spacious campsites and plenty of shade. We love this campground! I would have rated it higher if the bathhouse had been equipped with AC or fans for hot weather. It was very hot inside the building.

We had a spectacular view of the lake from our campsite and plenty of shade trees to cool the site. The bathhouse was clean and had both AC and fans to keep it comfortable in the summer heat. Two criticisms: There was a lot of litter along the lake shore everywhere we walked, which detracted from its scenic beauty. Also, the park has a pool but charges $5.00 per adult camper. The pool is free to people who rent cabins however.

The sites are nice and shaded in a hilly area near Wilson Lake on the Tennessee River, which is a 5-minute walk from the campground. There are tennis courts, playground equipment, softball fields, picnic shelters and a disc golf course. The bathhouse is clean and well-maintained. The only negative was that we found a site with a broken water hook-up & had to move to the next site. The campground is within 5 minutes of various fast food, casual dining restaurants and grocery stores. We had a very enjoyable stay there.

This is a beautiful spot on the Kentucky River, quiet and out of the way. The managers are very friendly & helpful. There is a small camp store, a pool, fishing pier, paddleboats and canoes for rent. There is a nice waterfall directly across the river and you can hear the sound of rushing water. The only negative we found was that there is very little water pressure in the showers. The bathhouse was very clean and well-maintained. This is a beautiful area of Kentucky and I'd recommend driving 15-20 minutes to the Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill to tour it and eat at the wonderful restaurant there. The Kentucky Horse Park is only about a half hour away and there are several distilleries in the area that give tours.

We stayed on the back side of the campground along the slough, where there are plenty of shade trees. Most of the campsites used to be shaded by tall pine trees until it was hit by a tornado 3 years ago and several hundred trees were lost. In spite of this, it is still a very nice campground, just 5 minutes from downtown. The bathhouse is well-maintained & there is a washer and dryer. The sites are big enough but not overly roomy. There is a safe, friendly atmosphere. My husband enjoyed fishing off the nearby pier. Many local residents camp here regularly.
